I would like to recommend the idea of the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoakro as a location stamp for Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), which was posted first by another user. Côte d'Ivoire is a French speaking country located in West Africa and home to nearly 28 million inhabitants. It is only fair that Ivory Coast is also allowed to be represented with a location stamp on Slowly, like so many other countries.
The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace is actually in the Guinness World Records because it just so happens to be the world's largest church! In area, it is 30,000 square meters (320,000 sq ft), 158 meters (518 ft) high and can accommodate 18,000 people.
The beauty of the Basilica is not only seen on the outside but on the inside as well. The Basilica is made of marble imported from Italy and furnished with stained glass windows from France. Columns are a present theme throughout the Basilica and while the more expansive ones might be decorative, they also serve as elevators! Also inside are 7,000 pews made of wood from the Iroko tree, a large hardwood tree native to West Africa, that can live up to 500 years.
The record for the world's largest church was previously held by Saint Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, which the architectural designs of the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace were inspired by. In comparison, the dome of the Yamoussoakro Basilica is more than twice the diameter of the Vatican's St. Peter's, 90 meters (300 ft) vs 41 meters (136 ft). The Basilica of Yamoussoakro was built between 1985- 1989 and consecrated by Pope John Paul ll. It is a major landmark, not only for Côte d'Ivoire, but for the rest of the world as well.
