The first black hole photographed was named after the two words "po" and "wehi" meaning "embellished dark source of unending creation" by Hawaiian language professor Larry Kimura. It is a stunning feat of science and it's an excellent way to pay homage to Hawaiian culture and the work of thousands across the globe.
