Festival Folclórico de Parintins, also called Festival do Boi-Bumbá, Bumba Meu Boi, or simply Festival, is a popular annual celebration during three days in late June. In the Brazilian city of Parintins, Amazonas. It is one of the largest annual festivals in Brazil and the festival is recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Brazil by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage!
The festival celebrates a local legend about a resurrected ox and it's a competition where two teams, Garantido - represented by a white ox with a red heart on its forehead and red details - and Caprichoso - represented by a black ox with a blue star on its forehead and blue details - each nightly performance is largely based on local Amazonian folklore and indigenous culture, but also incorporates contemporary Brazilian rhythms and themes.
