[Burundi] Karyenda - Burundi location stamp
Nonethewiser
Burundi is a landlocked country in central Africa with a population of around 12 million people.
While there might not be many active Slowly users there, it would be very nice if every country in the world had at least one location stamp that is not a flag.
The
karyenda
is a traditional African drum. It was the main symbol of Burundi and its Mwami (King) and had semi-divine status. The Mwami was said to interpret the beatings of the karyenda
into rules for the kingdom. The drums, despite many upheavals, have remained popular and are still revered. The old families who were wardens of the drums have tried to keep the ancient traditions alive. Some have an international outreach, such as the Royal Drummers of Burundi. (Source: Wikipedia)The drums have already appeared on Burundi postage stamps in the past, and I believe they will look lovely as a Slowly stamp as well.

This is a great idea. Burundi is a very interesting country and large enough for their own stamp. Also the drum seems to be a well chosen symbol of the country + they surely have a flag too so 2 stamps would be nice :-)
