Cryptids (Cryptozoology); Stamp Set
complete
andatree
I chose United states as the category because I can't choose multiple countries, but I believe a Cryptid stamp set would be very very interesting!!
It could feature popular cryptids such as; the Loch Ness monster (more affectionately known as Nessie), the Abominable Snowman (also known as the Yeti), Mothman, Chupacabra, Bigfoot, and maybe the Jackalope or the Mongolian Death Worm.
I don't know too much about cryptids, so there could definitely be more common ones that'd be better suited together-- or there could be a "rare" cryptid set, that showcases less commonly known ones so people can learn more about different cultures and their myths and/or folklore! I just know that I, personally, would love to see it. :]]

[US] Bigfoot (Sasquatch) Law In Washington
andatree
Another interesting tidbit people might like to share in stamp form; In 1969, Skamania County, Washington, a law was passed protecting bigfoot. It specifically said that the "slaying of Bigfoot to be a felony and punishable by 5 years in prison." In 1984 the law was changed slightly, and it was considered a misdemeanor while the entire county became a sasquatch refuge.
Whether he's real or not-- it's an interesting fact about Washington and I think it might be, and look like, a neat stamp!

A Jackalope stamp would be a dream come true, hope this happens!

wittykittywoes: Thank you for supporting this! I've added a picture of Jackalope below

[UK] Loch Ness Monster
HeroIsAGirlsName
I'd love to see a stamp for either the UK's most famous cryptid, or for Loch Ness itself. Perhaps the stamp could feature the iconic head peeking out of the waters of the loch?
This would also balance out the mostly South of England based stamps we already have.

A couple of useful links:
Wiki's
List of cryptids
And here's a bit more information about world's most famous cryptids and what they could look like on Slowly stamps:
Loch Ness Monster
– ScotlandThe world’s most famous cryptid lives in Scotland’s Loch Ness, the country’s largest lake by volume.
Chupacabra
– The AmericasThe Chupacabra literally translates as goat-sucker, named for their penchant for attacking and drinking the blood of livestock across Central and South America, and in particular Puerto Rico.
Yeti / Abominable Snowman
- HimalayaThe ubiquitous Yeti, Rock Ape or Abominable Snowman has long strolled the plateaus and forests of the mighty Himalaya across Nepal, India, China, Bhutan, Tibet and Mongolia.
Mothman
- USAIn West Virginia folklore, the Mothman is a humanoid creature reportedly seen in the Point Pleasant area from November 15, 1966, to December 15, 1967.
Mongolian Death Worm
- Gobi DesertThe Mongolian death worm is a creature alleged to exist in the Gobi Desert. Legend says that as the creature begins to attack it raises half its body out of the sand and starts to inflate until it explodes, releasing the lethal poison all over the unfortunate victim.
Jackalope
- North AmericaThe jackalope is a mythical animal of North American folklore described as a jackrabbit with antelope horns. The word jackalope is a portmanteau of jackrabbit and antelope. The jackalope is subject to many outlandish and largely tongue-in-cheek claims embedded in tall tales about its habits. Jackalopes are said to be so dangerous that hunters are advised to wear stovepipes on their legs to keep from being gored.
=========================
P.S. I am leaving
Bigfoot
as an extra because there are already 2 North American creatures above, and he looks a bit like Yeti. But I am just listing the options here:Bigfoot
- North AmericaAlso known as the Sasquatch, Bigfoot is a nine-foot-tall muscular, hairy, ape-like hominid that roams the woodlands of America’s Pacific Northwest.

HeroIsAGirlsName: I was wondering what you think about the Cryptids set, which was suggested
here
. It also mentions Nessie and I wanted to add a bit more information about the creatures, but thought I should talk to you first. Would you prefer for the Loch Ness Monster to be a separate UK stamp, or would you be comfortable with merging the two posts in favour of the set?HeroIsAGirlsName
Nonethewiser: Good question! I first suggested it because I was trying to think of ideas that would represent the other UK nations aside from England. However, adding it to a Cryptid pack would mean that more people got to enjoy it and Scotland would arguably be even more represented. So sure: Nessie is an iconic cryptid and she would be a great addition alongside the Yeti, Bigfoot, El Chupacabra and the rest.
HeroIsAGirlsName
Nonethewiser: Maybe some Scottish users could weigh in with their thoughts too?
Nonethewiser
HeroIsAGirlsName: I am afraid I do not know any... but there is a running request to swap London location stamps for something more representative of all the UK nations. Assuming it will be done, could Nessie perhaps go international? :)
HeroIsAGirlsName
Nonethewiser: Sure, I have no objections.
