The Citadel of Saladin (قلعة صلاح الدين) is a massive medieval fortress in Cairo, Egypt, built by Sultan Salah ad-Din (Saladin) in 1176 CE to protect the city from Crusader attacks. It remained the seat of Egypt’s rulers for centuries and is one of the most iconic landmarks in Cairo.
