[Brazil] Elevador Lacerda (Location-based Stamp)
istovx
Elevador Lacerda (Lacerda Elevator) is one of the most popular buildings in Brazil, located in Salvador, Bahia.
According to Wikipedia, "The Lacerda Elevator [...] is a public urban elevator [...] connecting the lower city (Cidade Baixa) to the upper city (Cidade Alta). The 72 metres (236 ft) elevator was built between 1869 and 1873; it was named after Antônio de Lacerda, director of the Commercial Association of Bahia.
The Lacerda Elevator has two towers, one that pierces the stone slope of the Ladeira da Montanha, and other, more visible, that goes to the level of the Cidade Baixa. The elevator has four lifts, carrying 27 passengers each on a 30-second ride costing 0.15 reais. In 2019 it transported more than 33,000 passengers per day.
The elevator was listed as historical heritage of Brazil by IPHAN, on 7 December 2006."

istovx, have you seen Carolinee. post ? More Location Stamps for Brazil is alive and well, it has a nice listing of various landmarks, for different regions, including the Elevador Lacerda.
The proposal needs more support, maybe you could mention it to other Brazilian users and pen pals of yours?
We have got success with some new Location stamp proposals for countries which so far had none, and Brazil certainly deserves more.
Thank you, and good luck! 😎🍀🚀

It would also be nice to have some from the North of Brazil!
As for example the Ver-o-Peso Market in Belém - Pará
And the Teatro Amazonas in Manaus - Amazonas

uvlys: Great suggestions!! Maybe, since Brazil has 5 Major Regions, it would be nice to have a location-based stamp for each one of them, right?
uvlys
istovx: You are right! One for each region of Brazil would be amazing!
uvlys
Oh, it would be amazing!! 👏🏻👏🏻

Great pick, very scenic and would be intriguing to everyone - as in, what is that ???
Good suggestion, Isabella...

ImpossibleTwin: Hahaha yes, right? This is a very unique building, no wonder why it may sound a bit weird to those who have never seen it before. I am sure it would make a great stamp, Brazil really needs another location-based one!

istovx: Brazil indeed would benefit from some added Location stamps. I remember receiving the 'Christ the Redeemer' stamp over and over from Brazilian pen pal friends - back when there were much less free stamps arriving.
Many users can't afford to purchase coins for stamps, and might not know about the free coins via ad watching.
There are so many scenic places, unique, to be used in new Location stamps. I think this one is a great one as it's so unusual and curious.

ImpossibleTwin: I definitely agree! Despite having many Brazilian users, Slowly has yet to release a new location-based stamp. Or even stamps for special days, actually. I think they no longer offer the "Carnaval do Brasil" stamp so we literally have no special day stamps. If an user is not willing to spend money/watch ads for coins, they'll be stuck only with "Christ the Redeemer" and the Brazilian flag stamps forever.

istovx: The Carnaval do Brasil stamp is a really lovely one - which I was glad to see coming to life after sending in as a suggestion back in 2019 or so. At the time, Slowly opened a Google Doc for stamp suggestions, and got many many responses.
The Carnival stamp is a great design, but I think it would be a commemorative and only out in a certain time frame, when Carnival is on?
Let's hope Slowly does read this and considers some new Location stamps for the country! 😎🤗👍
istovx
ImpossibleTwin: is that so? I had no idea the "Carnaval do Brasil" stamp came out because of a survey, that's really cool!
Yes, I guess the stamp used to be available during Carnival in Brazil, but not anymore. At least we can get it on Time Machine, if we are lucky enough.
Absolutely, I sure hope so!
uvlys
istovx: Do you know why they don't give the stamp of Carnival anymore? I've been here since 2020 and I've never seen this one available during Carnival, I've only seen it in other people's collection :(
istovx
uvlys: I have absolutely no clue... It's funny because this stamp is not flagged as "discontinued", so I always expect it to be available during Carnival. Actually, there's another Carnival stamp that was available in other countries earlier this year, but not in Brazil, so it made me believe that we would get "Carnaval do Brasil" back. No luck, unfortunately...
At least we can still get it from Time Machine, but hopefully we can get a new Brazilian Carnival stamp next year. Or maybe they make "Carnaval do Brasil" available again during our Carnival celebrations.
uvlys
istovx: So it is!
I hope they bring this stamp back at the next Carnival! Until then I'll try to get it on Time Machine :/
istovx
uvlys: I sure hope too... Good luck :)
