The Berlin Wall was the symbol of German division and the Cold War for over 28 years. On November 9, 1989, due to a misunderstanding, citizens of the East stormed the wall and this action led to the reunification of Germany.

The plan to build the wall was a state secret. After World War II, state leaders wanted communist policies on the side of the Soviet Union. To make this possible undisturbed, the wall was built. The population didn't know about it and one day families and friends were separated by a wall overnight
