I'd like to request a stamp for Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), a country in West Africa, that some may not know much about. Did you know that Côte d'Ivoire is the world's leading producer of chocolate?! It's true, in fact Côte d'Ivoire supplies over 38% of cocoa beans to the world!
In 2017 alone, Côte d'Ivoire produced 1.8 million tons of cocoa! If you've ever had Nestlé, Cadbury or Hershey's chocolate, then you've had Ivorian cocoa, as those manufacturers primarily buy cocoa beans exported from Côte d'Ivoire.
Cocoa beans grow in a cacao pod on theobroma cacao trees, which thrive in the humid, tropics of Côte d'Ivoire. When the cacao pods are ripe, the pods are opened to remove and separate the cocoa beans from the pulp and rind of the pod. The cocoa  beans are then fermented, dried and sold to be exported.
