[Kazakhstan] Altybakan
Agnes Dep
Altybakan is a swing and game among the nomadic peoples of Central Asia. Young people swung on the swing in pairs, facing each other. They began the game by singing a cheerful song, which added an atmosphere of joy and fun to the game. During the game, a third person helped to swing the swing, giving it movement. The altybakan swing symbolizes youth, the spring of life, a time of carelessness and joy. The game often became the first opportunity for young men and women to make acquaintances and become closer, which made it an important part of cultural customs associated with the formation of future family unions. At modern festivals and holidays, altybakan remains an invariable part of the program, attracting the attention of both participants and spectators. This helps to preserve and pass on ancient traditions to younger generations.
