[Macao] Added Macao stamps: Templo de A-Má & Farol da Guia (A ma temple & Guia lighthouse)

Since Macau now only has 1 stamp, it is obviously not enough. Macau is a place where China and the West meet. Chinese temples and Western churches converge here. At the same time, Macau also has more than 20 historical buildings. Although the St. Paul's is very representative, it is obviously not representative of all Macau.
Templo de A-Má is the oldest temple in Macau that can be verified by physical objects, and it is also the oldest preserved building among the cultural relics in Macau. Templo de A-Má was first built by Fujian merchants and was called "A-Má". It is said that in 1553, the Portuguese moored the boat at the ancient pier in front of the temple and asked the local Fujian people what this place was. I thought it was the name of the temple, and said it was A Ma Pavilion. Since then, the Portuguese have used the homophonic "Macau" of the Hokkien dialect "A Ma'" to refer to Macau.
Before radar was popularized, the Guia Lighthouse was a landmark entering the Pearl River. Today, the lighthouse has been changed to a modern lighting system and still serves sailors. Next to the lighthouse is a 17th-century Portuguese monastery that features the Church of Our Lady of the Snows. The coordinate value of the location of the lighthouse is the geographic location of Macau on the world map.

Beatles36: Nicely done, and you have my support.
I find History fascinating, and Maritime History is one of the fields I am curious about. Macau being a very distant outpost of the Portuguese empire is historically important and interesting for those of us who are into these themes.
I visited the
Museu do Oriente
in Lisboa, Portugal in a past trip there, and they have a wonderful collection of objects and artefacts from their various outposts in Asia - including Gôa, in India, Macau in China, East Timor and the Spice Islands.Macau has possibly the rarest Slowly stamp of all - the impossible to get Hello Macau! from the Hello Kitty special edition series. 🙂

I hope maybe this and the other HK stamps might return in 2024 - for Hello Kitty's 50th Anniversary.

Yann2:
Thank you so much! I was originally worried that Macau is too small and not many people care about it! I also hope this stamp has a chance to come back, it's so cute! (However, I missed the stamp at that time)
Yann2
Beatles36: you are very welcome. I am glad you enjoyed my comment.
"(However, I missed the stamp at that time)"
I don't have it either, and
I do not know of ANY collector at all
that has it. It really is the rarest one around I think. There is a chance the HK stamp sets could be re-licensed and return for the 50th anniversary, and that would allow many more people to acquire them.
Currently these are extremely rare, and the only sources I know of do not have the Hello Macau stamp at all.

Yann2: Yes, it must be the rarest one, it is not only limited time, but also requires 50 coins. I also don't know any Slowly user who has this stamp. (So I can only claim that there is only 1 stamp in Macau)
