Batu caves, named after the Batu river running nearby are a limestone rock formation with numerous caves.
The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. Temple is located within the caves at an elevation of 100metres from sea level, with a flight of 272 rainbow coloured stairs from ground.
It is the focal point of the Tamil festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia, a meeting point for over a million Hindu devotees outside India.
The temple grounds is also home to 140feet Lord Murugan statue opened in 2006. tallest Hindu deity statue in Malaysia and third tallest in the world.
