Celebrated each year on 14th April in Bangladesh, Pahela Baishakh marks the start of the Bengali calendar. This day is celebrated with a lot of fanfare by the Bengalis both in Bangladesh and India regardless of faith. People wear traditional clothes, eats traditional food harking back to our roots. The stamp may contain an illustration of a paper made replica of a Bengal tiger or an owl. These replicas, that look like gigantic masks, are carried in the Mangal Shobhajatra carried out by the Dhaka University fine arts department.
