Mada'in Salih, also known as Al-Hijr, is a remarkable archaeological site located in the northwestern region of Saudi Arabia. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is renowned for its well-preserved rock-cut tombs and ancient Nabatean ruins.
Dating back to the first century BCE, Mada'in Salih was once an important trading and religious center for the Nabatean civilization, similar to its famous counterpart, Petra, in Jordan. The site features around 130 tombs carved into the sandstone cliffs, showcasing intricate facades, decorative elements, and inscriptions that provide insights into Nabatean culture and their customs surrounding burial practices.
