La Patum is a traditional festivity from a town called Berga, north Barcelona, whose origin dates back to the Middle Ages, and has remained the same as it is today for centuries. Inscribed in 2008 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, originally proclaimed in 2005, it takes place every year between late May and June, during the week of Corpus Christi.
The "Tabal" (its representative medieval drum), the well-known "Plens" (local demons with fireworks tied to their costumes), or even the Eagle, are some of the most popular and representative characters of this celebration, among other troups and figures.
