[Togo] Takienta tower houses - Togo location stamp
complete
Nonethewiser
Togo is a country in West Africa with a population of about 8.6 million people, which currently does not have a location stamp.
While there might not be many active Slowly users there, it would be very nice if every country in the world had at least one location stamp that is not a flag.
Koutammakou, the Land of the Batammariba is a cultural landscape designated in 2004 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Togo. The area features
takienta
(or tata) - traditional mud tower-houses, which remain the preferred style of living and are known as a national symbol of Togo. The
takienta
consists of a cluster of mud structures—the typical house contains around eight—girdled together by a continuous mud wall. Each structure has a dedicated function, housing kitchens, bedrooms, storerooms, and granaries.I think it would make a lovely location stamp.

I found a really interesting article :
A Visit to the Tata Somba Region in northern Togo and Benin
and on it reference to the family houses - which are two story and fully built with mud exteriors. "Tata Somba means ‘house of the Somba’. These dwellings are fortified mud houses, usually two-storey, often hidden from view by lush vegetation. Every tata somba is home to one family, its dimensions being a sign of the owner’s status."
Adding a couple of the photos from that article, Nonethewiser. Thank you, this is a really nice proposal.

A nice proposal, thank you!
They look great, and use native, local materials. Very nice and a great idea for a Location stamp. Well done, Nonethewiser! 👍🙂
