Doña Bárbara (Lady Bárbara) is a novel by Venezuelan author Rómulo Gallegos (He also was the 34th president of Venezuela in 1948), first published in 1929. It was described in 1974 as "possibly the most widely known Latin American novel".
Was adapted to the cinema in various Latin American countries: Mexico (1943), Argentina (1998) El Salvador (2012). Likewise, there were several Telenovelas that tell the story made in various countries: Venezuela (1958, 1967, 1975), Colombia (2008), Peru (1963), Cuba (1961, 1977) and Mexico (2016). Currently, Doña Bárbara has a monument in Apure, state and region narrated in the book.
