A few months ago, I’ve created a
post
on here, going over some crucial points in improving Ukraine’s store’s image, but over the course of that time, have come to the conclusion, that it does not serve justice to the endeavour, it was created for. Thus decided to split it in parts and reshape certain moments, in order of getting across the points, being made, more efficiently. This is my second attempt at bringing forth aspects of stamp issuing, that can be improved and, by extension, serve clearer and more accurate picture of one’s cultural legacy.
On the 1st of September, 2023 the Orthodox Church of Ukraine - the biggest religious institution in the country - has switched to the New Julian Calendar.
The shift meant that almost all holidays, celebrated by the parishioners, would move backwards in the Gregorian calendar by 13 days.
That would include some of the holidays, represented on Slowly app with their respective stamps. Those would include "Bonfire", "Kupala Night" and "Rizdvo".
The former two are meant to represent the celebrations, held on Nativity of John the Baptist - a holiday, that is now being celebrated in Ukraine on the 24th of June, instead of the former date, which was the 7th of July.
The latter is meant to represent the celebrations, held on Christmas - a holiday, that is now being celebrated in Ukraine on the 25th of December, instead of the former date, which was the 7th of January.
As seen on the screenshots, based on the “Expected” flair, the dates for both “Kupala Night” and “Rizdvo” remained the ones, they were before the calendar’s revision.
“Bonfire”, although has the word “June” in its “Expected” flair, was released in Ukraine this year both on the 24th of June and the 7th of July.
Considering testimonies of Ukrainians, celebrating the aforementioned holidays in the past, according to the revised dates, and current desire of theirs, backed up by the Church’s decree, to separate from Russia culturally in the light of the on-going Russo-Ukrainian war, I feel, that it’s only right to respect the choice of the Ukrainian people and idea behind it.
Hence, this post calls for
the date change for the following stamps, that are being released in Ukraine
:
  • Bonfire - from the 24th of June/7th of July to the 24th of June exclusively;
  • Kupala Night - from the 7th of July to the 24th of June;
  • Rizdvo - from the 7th of January (allegedly) to the 25th of December.
That would also include
the issuing of all the Ukrainian stamps in the future, whose dates would be picked, accordingly to the calendar reform of 2023
.

Кілька місяців тому, я створив тут

, в якому описав деякі ключові моменти покращення вигляду української крамниці, але за цей час дійшов висновку, що він нечітко відображає цілі, заради яких був створений. Тому я вирішив розбити його на частини і переробити певні моменти, аби ефективніше донести суть. Це моя друга спроба висвітлити аспекти випуску марок, які можуть бути покращені і, як наслідок, слугуватимуть більш чіткому і точному відображенню культурної спадщини.
1-го вересня 2023 року Православна Церква України - найбільша релігійна інституція в країні - перейшла на новоюліанський календар.
Перехід означав, що майже всі свята, які відзначають парафіяни, змістяться на 13 днів назад за григоріанським календарем.
Це включало би і деякі свята, представлені у додатку Slowly відповідними марками, до яких входять "Ватра", "Ніч Купала" та "Різдво".
Перші дві з них позначають святкування Різдва Івана Хрестителя - свята, яке тепер відзначається в Україні 24-го червня, а не 7-го липня, як було раніше. Остання позначає святкування Різдва Христового - свята, яке тепер відзначається в Україні 25-го грудня, а не 7-го січня, як було раніше.
Як видно на знімках екрану, виходячи з ярлика "Очікується", дати "Ночі Купала" та "Різдва" залишилися тими, що були до перегляду календаря. "Ватра", хоча і має в ярлику "Очікується" слово "червень", цього року вийшла в Україні як 24-го червня, так і 7-го липня.
Беручи до уваги свідчення святкування українцями вищезгаданих свят в минулому за зміненими датами, а також їхнє нинішнє бажання, підтримане постановою Церкви, культурно відокремитися від Росії в світлі російсько-української війни, що триває, я вважаю, що буде правильним поважати вибір українського народу та ідею, що стоїть за ним.
Тому даний допис закликає
змінити дати для наступних марок, які випускаються в Україні
:
  • "Ватра" - з 24-го червня/7-го липня на виключно 24-те червня;
  • "Ніч Купала" - із 7-го липня на 24-те червня;
  • "Різдво" - із 7-го січня (нібито) на 25-те грудня.
Це також стосується
випуску всіх українських марок у майбутньому, дати яких будуть обрані згідно з календарною реформою 2023-го року
.
